Newly transplanted hair requires delicate and proper care literally in the first hours after the completion of the surgery. What is the most important in care after hair transplant?
The first days of care after hair transplant
On the second day after the hair transplant the patient returns to the clinic for the bandaging and the first washing head. The same day the doctor will explain in detail the important points of post-transplant care. The patient must strictly follow all the recommendations, as this will ultimately affect the success of the entire surgery.
The patient should remember that in the first days after the transplant, the hair is prone to damage, loss or deformation of the growth direction. This can subsequently significantly affect the appearance of the hair. Therefore, in care after hair transplant:
- do not use high-pressure water while taking a shower,
- when blow-drying hair, do not direct a hot air stream to the transplanted area,
- Any mechanical impact (scratching, stroking, touching, etc.) on the transplanted area should be excluded or minimized during the first 15 days after surgery.
If the patient is very worried about itching, then you need to inform the doctor about this. He will recommend a special cream or lotion for itching. But do not scratch the transplanted hair area yourself, as this can damage them.
What else is important in care after hair transplant?
Also, care after hair transplantation includes giving up certain habits. For example, the patient is advised to stop or minimize smoking and alcohol intake for at least the first two weeks after the surgery. Smoking negatively affects the result by limiting the supply of essential oxygen to the transplanted hair. Alcohol also slows down wound healing and is incompatible with medications that can be prescribed to a patient after a hair transplant.
Also, in the first 14-15 days after the surgery, the patient is advised to limit any physical activity that can cause increased sweating.
The result of the surgery will depend not only on the skill of the doctor and his team, but also on how the patient follows all the recommendations and prescriptions.
Of course, our clinic will be in contact with the patient even distantly, especially during the first two weeks. The patient will be asked to take photographs to report and monitor the condition of the scalp and hair transplanted.
